When God’s Timing Doesn’t Make Sense…

After 27 years of raising goats, I (Michelle) can say with confidence that I’ve come to know the rhythms of our herd. So this past season, when not a single goat showed signs of pregnancy—no filled udders, no nesting behavior, no nothing—Danielle and I were deeply concerned. Our goat milk is the heart of Sparrow Soaps, and we rely on those sweet babies arriving each winter and spring to keep our products flowing.

By January, we were preparing for a season without milk, uncertain about what it meant for our business. But what we couldn’t see at the time was how God was already working behind the scenes.

Just weeks later, I suffered a seizure and was faced with the return of cancer. Had our goats kidded on their usual schedule, the all-nighters spent assisting births and the extra farm demands would have been overwhelming—if not impossible—in the middle of that health crisis.

And wouldn’t you know it… the goats had been bred—just delayed.

Every baby goat arrived in perfect timing. Not only that, but they were placed in new loving homes, spreading joy far beyond our farm. As if that weren’t enough, right in the middle of it all, a local farmer approached Danielle and offered to partner with us by supplying their excess goat milk. This new relationship with the wonderful folks at Sawyer Farm has not only eased the strain on our operation but also provided income for another local farming family.

Friend, maybe you’re in a season where nothing seems to be going according to plan. Maybe doors feel shut, or the timing feels all wrong. But let us gently remind you: God’s timing is rarely early, but it’s never late. He sees what we can’t, and His faithfulness never fails.

peace & love,
Michelle and Danielle
